Our baby is less than three months old, so the doctor was
a bit surprised when he set her on her tummy on the exam
table, and she easily held her head up. He said, "that's
pretty good," as she casually looked around the room.
Then he walked away across the room.
It's a good thing we were paying attention, because as he
blithely discussed our baby's diet, she decided to turn
over for the first time. Her daddy rushed over to grab
her as she hurtled toward the floor.
The doctor just flatly said, "that's amazing," then
continued to discuss her diet as if nothing out of the
ordinary had just happened.
I don't want to think about what would have happened if we
hadn't been paying attention - that floor was hard tile!
Was the doctor right - is it very unusual for a 12 week
baby to turn over from front to back?
